How I Eliminated My Fishy Vaginal Odor… For Good!
Hey Angie here,
If you’re looking for the best way to eliminate that fishy vaginal odor known as Bacterial Vaginosis, then I’m glad you found this site and I strongly suggest you continue reading…
Although I know that this is not, in any way, a popular subject to talk about. I realized that there are a LOT of women going thru the same situation and that it could be of help; Because of my unrestricted journey, the trials that I went through, things that didn’t work and finally the One Thing that helped me get rid of that Foul Vaginal Odor.
How it all Started
A few years back I started noticing this fishy smell “down there”, usually a few days after my period. I was wondering what the cause of this was. It was a sort of thick vaginal discharge that I did not have before. Things gradually got worse after each period.
I was so embarrassed and uncomfortable. So bad that every time my boyfriend would come over, I would take a bath and spray perfume on just so he could not smell it. I was too afraid to go see a Doctor so I tried to solve it myself by showering more frequently; I went online to find some over-the-counter feminine products… nothing worked.
I finally got enough courage to go see a Doctor. Although he wasn’t 100% sure, he concluded that the fishy vaginal odor and the pain I was feeling during intercourse were due to an infection called Bacterial Vaginosis. He prescribed me some antibiotics for my smelly vagina and sent me on my merry way. Problem solved right?….. No. after about a month the mighty vaginitis returned…This time, with a vengeance. I was so discouraged and was starting to give up until a close friend of mine told me that she discovered a Natural Cure for Bacterial Vaginosis.
Really??…
I have to admit that I was real skeptical to try her recommendation. She’s the “earthy” kind who really believes in the natural way of doing things. Hey, I had tried everything else. So I figured I might as well give it a try. Other than having to read a book going more into details about my specific problem, surprisingly the information in there was really refreshing.
It explained exactly the answers I was looking for because it not only gave me more in-depth understanding of bacterial vaginosis, helpful information on understanding your specific type of BV (yes, there is more than one type),but more importantly provided easy to follow, step-by-step solution of how to get rid of it… One of the gems in there even described a simple and shockingly easy treatment to get immediate relief from burning and itching using a simple ingredient that everyone has in their home… I couldn’t believe it.
Look, truthfully, it’s been over six months since I have been free of bacterial vaginosis… So needless to say the methods really worked for me…. Plus, having suffered from the embarrassing condition herself, Kristina J. Tomlin (the author) takes all the risks away by guaranteeing the results…. So I really had nothing to lose. (well…. other than that fishy vagina odor..:-)

What Causes That Fishy Vaginal Odor?
You know, a lot of women get vaginal odor confused with the natural scent of their vagina. Vaginal odor is a common problem and it can be treated easily in many cases. It is important to know that there is a considerable difference between the regular smell of your vagina and a questionable vaginal odor. The smell of your vagina, while it is able to change during the course of your period cycle, is pretty unique to you and being that it’s pretty consistent, you may find the smell quite pleasant. But when this smell gets stronger and develops into a fishy, musty or even a foul smell, then you need to know where the feminine odor stems from.
Bacterial Vaginosis
The most common source of a smelly vagina is known as Bacterial Vaginosis (BV).
Those bacterial infections are what causes the fishy vaginal odors. This is due to one or many strains of bacteria in the vagina overgrowing. This infection can also come with a foul-smelling discharge in the vagina. Although BV is not considered as a sexually transmitted disease, sex could introduce the bacteria that cause it in the vaginal areas.
Excessive Moisture and Sweat
Too much sweat and moisture in the vagina can lead to the odors. When too much moisture is trapped in a warm area of the body, it can be a great breeding ground for foul smelling bacteria. Any time of clothing that interferes with the air flow in the vagina can also cause this. It is recommended to wear cotton panties and loose fitting clothes
Sexual Intercourse
Sperm mixed with vaginal fluids can create a strong odor. Because as soon as the sperm gets broken down by the body it’s likely the infection is there. Sex, by itself can cause a strong odor, though it is usually a pleasing one. If your vagina smells particularly fishy after sex, this is usually a sign to check if you are infected.
Maintaining Good Hygiene
Though there are plenty of causes for the foul vaginal odors, it can also be the result of not properly keeping good hygiene. Maybe not showering as you normally would or maybe you were busy with extra activities and did not have the time to. It is important to maintain diligent attention to your body
Keeping Smelly Vaginal Odor To a Minimum- a Few Tips
In the subject of keeping fishy feminine odor to a minimum, this may come off as sort of a no-brainer for most but I have to stress how extremely important it is to keep your vagina clean. It is an important part of a woman’s body, yet, the vagina is an embarrassing subject to talk about for a lot of women.
It’s as essential to hygiene as any other parts of the body to help maintain good health. When it is neglected of the basic care, it could lead to occurrences of smelly vaginal odors. But I have to say that’s not always the case
A few tips in having and maintaining a healthy vagina:
- Keep healthy by maximizing your yogurt intake and at the same time, minimizing your sugar intake. In studies they have found that yogurts contain the good bacteria acidophilus, that try to kill off the bacteria found in sugar- hence the lower intake of sugar. So sugar-free yogurt would be ideal..
- Keeping yourself clean- when showering, clean the vaginal area very clean without using a douche. Douche have been found to be too much cleaning and can actually be harmful and ad to the problem
- Use condoms, not just to protect from pregnancy and STDs, but also to help keep your vagina clean
- Try to avoid using sprays and scented soaps
